Fabrizio Romano reveals Sevilla in advanced talks to sign Montpellier striker Akor Adams
Published: January 23, 2025
La Liga club Sevilla are working on a deal to sign former Nigeria U20 international Akor Adams in the January transfer window.
According to transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla are in advanced talks to sign Adams from Montpellier.
Negotiations are in progress and nearing completion, with the striker set to join the Rojiblancos permanently if an agreement is reached.
Despite a fantastic start to his career at La Paillade, where he scored seven goals in his first nine Ligue 1 games, Adams has struggled for form, finding the net only four times in his subsequent 38 matches in the division.
In the ongoing season, the 24-year-old has managed three goals in fifteen matches in the French top-flight, and was an unused substitute in Montpellier's last match against Monaco.
Known for his physicality, he joined Lillestrøm in 2022, where he made a significant impact by scoring 28 goals in 50 appearances, earning him a move to Montpellier in the summer of 2023.
If the talks are fruitful, Adams will link up with Nigeria internationals Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho at Sevilla, although the latter is being linked with a departure from the Andalusian club before the close of the winter transfer market.Â
Adams shares the same agent as Ejuke, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.
