Confirmed: After Obi-Martin, Manchester United pinch another teenager from Arsenal
Published: February 01, 2025
English Premier League giants Manchester United have poached another talented teenager from rivals Arsenal, signing central defender Ayden Heaven.
Last summer, one of the most promising youngsters on the books of a Premier League club in the shape of Chido Obi-Martin swapped the Gunners for the Red Devils after turning down a scholarship offer.
The Denmark youth international of Nigerian descent continues to enhance his burgeoning reputation with brilliant displays for the Red Devils youth teams, scoring eleven goals in all competitions.
Obi-Martin picked Manchester United over his other suitors because he feels there is a clear pathway to the first team.
United officially announced on Saturday, through the club's website, the acquisition of England youth international central defender Ayden Heaven, who, like Obi-Martin, declined a contract offer from Arsenal to join the Red Devils.
Just like Obi-Martin, Heaven was courted by German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt but chose to continue his development at Manchester United.
The 18-year-old defender has signed a contract at Manchester United until the end of the 2028-2029 season.
After joining Arsenal's Hale End Academy in 2019, Heaven went on to feature in 37 matches for the U21s and U18s, including 10 appearances in the UEFA Youth League over the last two seasons
Obi-Martin started in attack alongside Spanish-Nigerian forward Victor Musa in the ongoing game against Manchester City in the U18 Premier League.
