Talented Spanish-born Nigerian striker Victor Musa scored two goals inside thirty minutes but it was not enough for Manchester United to secure all three points as they squandered the lead in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool in an U18 Premier League fixture in Kirkby on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool U18s manager Marc Bridge-Wilkinson picked three Nigerian players in his starting lineup, with Flying Eagles hopeful Louis Enahoro-Marcus partnering Emmanuel Airoboma in central defence, while Fola Onanuga started in midfield.
Chido Obi-Martin was on U21 duty against Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, so was not called up for the trip to Liverpool.
Musa gave United the lead in the 17th minute, heading home after a really good ball at the back post from
Albert Mills.
He then doubled the advantage in the 28th minute, escaping his marker and nodding in a cross from Reece Munro.
Two minutes before halftime, Sonni-Lambie finished off a brilliant counter attack to half the deficit, before Tyler Martin got Liverpool back on level terms in the 89th minute.
Having missed the first three matches of the campaign, Musa has now tallied six goal involvements (4 goals, 2 assists) in eight appearances in the U18 Premier League.
The former Spain U16 international scored on his EFL Trophy debut against Huddersfield Town's first team back in November.
He has also impressed in the National League Cup, scoring to help United register wins against Forest Green Rovers and Oldham Athletic.
Manchester United, who failed to win for only the second time this season, are three points behind city rivals Manchester City in the U18 Premier League table.
