'Scored a great goal' - Italian expert hails Dele-Bashiru's impact in Lazio's win over Monza
Published: February 10, 2025
Italian football expert Giulio Cardone has heaped praise on Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru for his performance in Lazio's emphatic 5-1 victory over Monza at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.
Dele-Bashiru, who was introduced in the second half, found the back of the net in the 88th minute, just two minutes after Monza pulled one back through Stefano Sensi.
The goal marked his third league goal in 15 Serie A appearances since joining Lazio on loan from Hatayspor in the summer.
Speaking to Radiosei.it, Cardone highlighted Dele-Bashiru's contribution, describing his goal as an excellent finish.
"Pedro and Castellanos were the best on the pitch, they have superior technical quality, they understand each other perfectly.
"Dele-Bashiru also came on very well, he scored a great goal, it would be very interesting to see him with Napoli together with Rovella and Guendouzi."
The 24-year-old Nigerian midfielder has endured a challenging start to life in Serie A but has been outstanding in the UEFA Europa League, scoring two goals and providing two assists in six matches to help Lazio secure a spot in the Round of 16.
With his recent resurgence, Dele-Bashiru will be eager to impress further in upcoming fixtures, particularly against Napoli, as he also pushes for a call-up to Nigeria's squad for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.
