'There will be good news' – Nuno Espírito Santo expects Ola Aina to sign new Nottingham Forest deal
Published: February 13, 2025
Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has expressed optimism over Ola Aina’s contract situation, indicating that progress is being made toward an agreement.
Aina, who joined Forest on a free transfer in 2023, has become an important figure in the squad, featuring regularly in their Premier League campaign.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the club has been working to secure an extension amid interest from other teams.
Reports suggest that Nottingham Forest are keen to offer the Nigerian defender a new long-term deal to ensure his continued presence at the City Ground.
His versatility, defensive reliability, and ability to contribute in attack have made him a key asset under Nuno’s management.
Since arriving at Forest, Aina has played a crucial role, helping the team remain competitive in the league.
His performances, including standout displays against top clubs, have reinforced the club’s desire to retain him beyond this season.
"I think there will be good news. Things are going well. I am positive and confident everything is going to be solved," Nuno said when asked about Aina’s future during Thursday's pre-match press conference.
Aina’s career has seen him play for multiple clubs across Europe. The Nigerian international spent 12 years at Chelsea, rising through the youth ranks and winning two UEFA Youth League titles before making his first-team debut in 2016.
However, he struggled for regular playing time at Stamford Bridge and moved to Torino in 2019 to further his development.
Since returning to England, Aina has been enjoying arguably the best form of his career.
With two goals in 24 Premier League games this season, he has been a key figure in Forest’s campaign.
Nuno’s comments reflect the club’s confidence in reaching an agreement, and fans will be eagerly awaiting an official announcement confirming Aina’s extended stay at Nottingham Forest.
