Tony Nwakame severed ties with Romanian top flight club Universitatea Cluj and joined rivals Petrolul Ploiesti last month.
The striker has revealed to allnigeriasoccer.com the circumstances that led to his departure from Cluj for a new adventure.
''The President of Universitatea Cluj left the club and moved to Petrolul Ploiesti. He talked to me about moving with him. I did not have to think twice about the offer before accepting. I signed a two - year contract with Petrolul Ploiesti,'' said Tony Nwakaeme.
The 23- year - old striker, younger brother of Vietnam based forward Dickson Nwakaeme, claims he snubbed offers from clubs outside Romania before putting pen to paper on a contract with the Oilers.
He disclosed: ''Some agents told me they had deals for me in Italy, France and Germany. Then I had a contract with Universitatea Cluj, and the outgoing president did not want me to sign for another team. He was the one that convinced me to join him in Petrolul Ploiesti.''
Tony Nwakaeme scored seven goals for past club Universitatea Cluj last season. Four of those strikes came in November, 2011.
