Christian Obodo Eyes National Team Recall
Published: February 12, 2013
After more than 4 years in the international wilderness, Christian Obodo is hoping to sign a contract with Belarusian club Dinamo Minsk to enhance his chances of getting a recall to the National Team.
The central midfielder, who has been training with Dinamo Minsk for the past six days, told the official website: ''I hope. I'm still a player of the Nigeria team. As soon as I have a team and match practice, will come back into the ranks of the national team.I played twice at the African Cup of Nations. In 2006, we were third. ''
The ex Perugia ace watched Nigeria, tutored by Stephen Keshi, lift her third African Cup of Nations trophy on Sunday after a 1- 0 win over Burkina Faso.
''Stephen Keshi - the best captain in the history of the national team of Nigeria. He was a central defender and played for the national team a lot of matches. Legend of Nigerian football. Very good coach,'' he added.
Since January, allnigeriasoccer.com informed the Nigerian public that Obodo could be a winter reinforcement of Dinamo Minsk. He had attracted interest from teams in Romania, Italy, Cyprus and China.
''You do not believe it, I got a call from a journalist from Nigeria, said: "Congratulations, Chris! You're in Dinamo. "Thank you, - I answered. - I would be happy to play for Dinamo, but so far nothing has been signed. " "So you're not in Minsk?" - Asked. "No - I say. - I'm in a movie. " I have been receiving calls constantly. Even stopped responding to unfamiliar numbers,'' Obodo said.
Christian Obodo will get his Italian passport in the next two months. He spent more than 11 years in Italy representing the colors of Perugia, Fiorentina, Torino, Udinese and Lecce.
