Rangers Bank On Chibuzor Okonkwo
Published: April 18, 2013
Rangers International of Enugu have put their hopes of progression in the CAF Champions League on defender Chibuzor Okonkwo experience and versatility.
Speaking recently to allnigeriasoccer.com, the Beijing Olympic silver medallist disclosed this, and said he was confident Rangers will go very far in the competition.
"The technical crew told me when I joined Rangers on loan from Oak Zeel FC that they were very happy with me because they knew they could count on me in a variety of positions for the team.
''Most Nigerians know me only as a full back who can play left back and right back because I have done that in the Olympic team and also in the Super Eagles.
''What they do not know is that I can also play comfortably anywhere in the midfield and even in attack.
"In our barren home draw with Warri Wolves earlier in the season, the coaches gave me the license to roam in search of goals when the game really needed a lift.
''I roved around and created chances but unfortunately Wolves held on to force a draw in Enugu. In Week Seven I blasted a free kick home in our 3-0 victory over Dolphin.
''Against teams in Africa in the Champions League, I am sure that they will be caught napping when they see me in different positions on the pitch, doing what I know best.
''My coaches have told me to d my best to help Rangers, and as far as God gives me the grace to keep fit, whenever I am on the pitch I will move Rangers forward.
''I am confident that we can go all the way to lift the trophy, and also catch up with Kano Pillars and lift the league,'' said Chibuzor Okonkwo
