Mbah Dazzles As Eagles Defeat Kaduna Selected In Exhibition Match
Published: July 03, 2013
In an exhibition match played at the Kaduna Township stadium, in preparation for this weekend CHAN qualifier against the Ivory Coast, the home based Eagles defeated a Kaduna selected team by 3 goals to nil.
The home based Eagles got off to a flying start from the kickoff when left full back Benjamin Francis whipped in a cross, missed by Gambo Mohammed but cooly slotted home by cup of Nation hero Sunday Mba in the opening seconds of the game.
Gambo Mohammed later made up for his opening minute miss by netting the Eagles second goal, lobbing the Kaduna selected
goalkeeper shortly after he forced a fine save from the goalie.
The Super Eagles ended the first half convincingly and in the second half made a raft of changes but notable among them was ex-Kaduna United winger, Ezekiel Mbah who presently plays for Akwa United.
He got the crowd clapping and cheering to his clever flicks, step-overs, dribbles and ball distribution. In what was a suppressed second half, Ezekiel Mbah was the shining light.
Sunshine Stars defender Solomon Kwambe netted the third goal for the home based Eagles just before the referee's final whistle.
Speaking after the test game, team media officer Ben Alaiya said the game served two purposes for the team, first as a form of training and secondly a morale booster to keep the players in the right frame of mind.
He assured Nigerians that by the Grace of God,the home based Eagles won't dissapoint on Saturday against the Ivorian National Team.
