Highly-rated young defender of Nigerian descent Andrew Omobamidele has made his professional debut for Championship promotion hopefuls Norwich City, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 2002-born center-back was introduced off the bench in the third minute of stoppage time as Norwich City defeated Sheyi Ojo's Cardiff City 2-1 on Saturday evening.
He has been rewarded with a senior debut by manager Daniel Farke around three weeks after he signed his first professional contract with the Canaries.
Omobamidele has been knocking on the first team door having made eight of the ten matchday squads before today's game at the Cardiff City Stadium.
He is the second teenager with a Nigerian background to debut for Norwich's first team this season, after Nigeria Olympic team hopeful Tyrese Omotoye.
Born in Dubin to a Nigerian father and Irish mom, Omobamidele has been capped by Republic of Ireland at U17, U18 and U19 levels.
He joined Norwich City from Irish side Leixlip United at the aged of sixteen.
