Five Super Eagles players who tasted action in Saturday's 1-0 win against the Republic of Benin have taken to social media to celebrate Nigeria's qualification to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
There was anxiety in the hours leading up to the game at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto-Novo after Everton winger Alex Iwobi failed a coronavirus test but the Super Eagles put in a good performance to snatch victory right at the death.
The game appeared to be heading to a scoreless draw but Genk striker
Paul Onuachu towered above his marker to head home three minutes into stoppage time
after an initial shot from Victor Osimhen was blocked.
The win sees the three-time African champions guaranteed top spot in Group L of AFCON qualifying regardless of the outcome of their final match against Lesotho on Tuesday, March 30.
Here's what the Super Eagles stars said on social media :
Maduka Okoye : "Africa Cup 2022 here we come 🦅✅ This is for you Nigeria! 🇳🇬 We go one more time on tuesday home in Lagos. #40 #227".
Wilfred Ndidi : "Naija way 🇳🇬 E choke ðŸ¿"
Paul Onuachu : "AFCON 2022 QUALIFICATION 🇳🇬🦅🇳🇬"
Henry Onyekuru : "#Afcon2021Qualification ✅ðŸ™ðŸ¾ðŸ‡³ðŸ‡¬ðŸ¦…🇳🇬🤟ðŸ½"
