2025 Flying Eagles invitee signs new contract with Chelsea

Premier League giants Chelsea have announced on their official website that 2025 Flying Eagles invitee Chizaram Ezenwata has signed a new deal with the club.

Under Premier League regulations, all players in their U17 year are required to begin the season on a scholarship agreement before they are eligible to sign their first professional contract on or after their 17th birthday.

Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported in January 2024 that Chelsea had offered the highly rated centre-forward an early scholarship, with the option of a three-year professional contract thereafter.

The Blues have now confirmed that the English-Nigerian-Cameroonian forward has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the club.

Ezenwata joined Chelsea at U15 level after previous spells with the youth teams of West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Charlton Athletic.

In his final season as a schoolboy, he finished as Chelsea U18s top scorer and currently leads the scoring charts across all competitions at that level, with 11 goals so far this season.

He also made his debuts in the FA Youth Cup, Premier League 2 and the U21 Premier League Cup while still a schoolboy, underlining the high regard in which he is held by the coaching staff at Cobham.

On the international stage, Ezenwata represented his country of birth, England, at the 2025 Fifa U17 World Cup, despite talks with Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle and his players during the Unity Cup.
