Arsenal-owned midfielder of Nigerian descent Miguel Azeez has scored his first professional goal but it came in the colours of Portsmouth in a 3-0 rout of Crystal Palace in a Papa John's Trophy clash staged at Fratton Park on Tuesday night.
Azeez has found game time hard to come by since switching to Pompey in the summer transfer window and this contributed to the decision of England U20s boss Andy Edwards to omit him from the Young Lions roster for the match with Portugal in November.
The Anglo-Spanish-Nigerian wonderkid is gradually forcing his way into the plans of Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley having taken part in the last three games played by the club, in three different competitions namely League One, FA Cup and Papa John's Trophy.
Azeez went the full ninety in last night's clash, along with Crystal Palace duo goalkeeper Owen Goodman and striker David Omilabu.
In the 32nd minute, the Arsenal loanee put the ball into the back of the net with ease to open the scoring, passing it into the top corner after receiving a pass from Gassan Ahadme.
Azeez was in action for 174 minutes combined for both Arsenal and Portsmouth spread across five matches before scoring his first senior goal.
The Hale End Academy product has been on the books of Arsenal since the age of five.
