'A big country' - Onuachu says Super Eagles are in Morocco to win Afcon 2025

Trabzonspor forward Paul Onuachu has declared Nigeria’s ambition to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations ahead of the Super Eagles’ group stage match against Tunisia on Saturday.

Nigeria started their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania and will look to continue their winning form in their second Group C fixture.

Onuachu spoke about the quality of both teams and the squad’s preparation for the encounter.

“Nigeria is a big country. Of course, Tunisia is also a football nation, but I think we have good players and good squad to really take it to the next level,” Onuachu said.

He also highlighted the team’s focus at the tournament. “I mean, I think there's a lot of strong team. I'm not going to say tomorrow game with me for the content. Even already coming here, we have it in back of our mind that we're here to win the AFCON,” he said.

Onuachu stressed the importance of handling each game individually. “But like I said earlier in my interview, we'll have to take one game as it comes,” he added.

Nigeria will face a Tunisia side that has already shown quality in the competition, making the upcoming match a key fixture in Group C.

Both teams will aim to secure maximum points to strengthen their position in the group standings.

Following their opening win over Tanzania, the Super Eagles will look to maintain momentum.

Onuachu’s comments indicate that the squad is prepared to compete strongly while focusing on one match at a time.

The fixture on Saturday will be decisive for both sides as they aim to advance from the group stage.

Nigeria hopes to follow up their opening victory with another strong performance against the Carthage Eagles who also won their opening game 3-1 against Uganda.
