'Amazing' - Onuachu says scoring four goals at Afcon isn't easy, praises hardworking Adams

Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu has praised Nigeria’s collective performance following the emphatic 4-0 victory over Mozambique, which secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking after the match, the striker highlighted the team’s unity and efficiency in front of goal.

Asked to give his honest assessment of the game, Onuachu commended the overall display by the Super Eagles.

He said, “It’s a good game. The group played a good game. The team played a good game.”

His remarks reflected the confidence within the squad after a dominant showing in Fès.

Onuachu also underlined the significance of scoring four goals at a major international tournament, stressing that such a feat is not easily achieved at Afcon.

He added, “Four goals. It’s not easy to score four goals in this Afcon tournament, but to see four goals and that’s amazing from the boys.”

Nigeria’s attacking display saw Ademola Lookman open the scoring, Victor Osimhen net twice, and Akor Adams seal the win late in the second half.

The result confirmed the Super Eagles as one of the most clinical teams at the competition so far.

Onuachu reserved special praise for Akor Adams, who scored his first Afcon goal during the match.

Speaking about his teammate’s contribution, he said, “He is amazing, he’s everywhere. I’m happy for him he finally gotten his goal.”

The Trabzonspor striker also highlighted Adams’ work ethic and commitment to the team.

He added, “He is a hard worker, he work for the team, he work for his fellow players. I’m happy for him.”

Nigeria’s victory marked their first clean sheet of the tournament and extended their unbeaten run as they continue their push for continental glory.
