Arsenal and Chelsea keeping tabs on Rangers' goalscoring centre-back eyeing Super Eagles call-up

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Arsenal and Chelsea are among the Premier League clubs monitoring Rangers centre-back Emmanuel Fernandez ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.

While a move is not imminent, both London clubs are understood to be tracking his progress closely, with decisions expected once the season concludes.

Born in England, Fernandez has committed his international future to the Super Eagles over the Three Lions and he's now waiting to hear from the Nigeria Football Federation and manager Eric Chelle ahead of the the Fifa window for international games in March 2026.

Although he is yet to apply for a Nigerian passport, there is belief that the necessary documentation will not pose any obstacle should he receive a call-up to the Super Eagles, with the process expected to be fast-tracked if required.

The defender, who joined Rangers from Peterborough United for £3.9 million last summer, has attracted attention across Europe for his commanding presence at the back.

Standing out for his aerial ability and composure on the ball, he is capable of distributing effectively with both feet, a style often compared to that of Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

Fernandez attracted interest from Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, and Italian Serie A clubs in the winter transfer market , with the player showing a preference for a move to Germany.

However, Rangers were determined not to lose him mid-season and blocked a potential move to the German Bundesliga.

Fernandez, who has established a reputation as a goalscoring centre-back with five goals in 22 Rangers appearances, was voted the club's Player of the Month for January.
