1998 World Cup winner with France, Thierry Henry has revealed that he started watching the Africa Cup of Nations in 1988 when the tournament was hosted by Morocco.
The 1988 Africa Cup of Nations, held from March 13-27, featured eight teams competing in two groups, with matches taking place in Casablanca's Mohammed V Stadium and Rabat's Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Cameroon's Indomitable Lions beat Nigeria 1-0 in the final, with Emmanuel Kunde scoring the game-winning goal from the penalty spot.
Reflecting on his long-standing passion for the Africa Cup of Nations, Henry shared memories that stretch back to the late 1980s.
Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo, the Arsenal legend said: "I want to give you a little background about me and the Africa Cup of Nations, and I will talk about what happened in the final.
"I started to watch the Africa Cup of Nations in 1988, and it was actually in Morocco. Cameroon won against Nigeria. In the final, there were some names you would remember: Roger Milla was playing in that team, and Joseph-Antoine Bell."
Henry highlighted how the tournament inspired him and showcased African players who later made their mark in Europe.
