Championship club West Brom interested in Lazio's Super Eagles midfielder
Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has emerged as a transfer target for Championship side West Bromwich Albion ahead of the close of the winter transfer window, according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica via Lazio News 24.
Dele-Bashiru joined Lazio in the summer of 2024 but has endured a challenging spell in Italy.
The Nigerian International has struggled to adapt to the demands of the Series A, netting five goals and two assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
It is suggested that the 25-year-old does not entirely fit the tactical requirements of Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri, who prefers central midfielders with strong positional discipline, timing, and passing control.
As a result, questions have been raised over Dele-Bashiru’s long-term future at the Stadio Olimpico.
West Brom are monitoring the midfielder’s situation as they look to bolster their squad in the second half of the season.
The Baggies are currently 19th in the Championship standings and are eager to climb the table in a bid to revive their push towards the playoff places.
A move to The Hawthorns could offer Dele-Bashiru the opportunity to rediscover his best form in a more familiar environment, following a difficult period in Italy, while also boosting his chances of regular playing time at club level.
