Charlton Athletic's Nigeria-eligible central defender Deji Elerewe, whose style of play has drawn comparisons to Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk, is aiming to play in the English Premier League within the next five years.
The 17-year-old helped Charlton Athletic U18s win the Professional Development League North title this season and has been invited to train with the first team several times- a testament to the progress he has made over the last twelve months.
"In the next five years, I want to play in the Premier League," Elerewe told allnigeriasoccer.com.
"I have high expectations of myself and I believe in my abilities as a player.
"I would also like to make several international appearances and have the opportunity to play against the best players in the world".
Elerewe explained why the big win against Nottingham Forest in March was his best performance of the season.
"I have had a lot of good games this season but my standout performance was against Nottingham Forest where we won 4-0.
"Being able to keep a clean sheet is always important to me so I was very happy after the game," he concluded.
