Samuel Chukwueze scored on his return from the Africa Cup of Nations as Fulham defeated Brighton 2-1 in their Premier League Round 23 match at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
Brighton opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Yasin Ayari struck into the top-left corner to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Fulham responded in the second half, introducing Chukwueze in the 59th minute.
The Nigerian winger scored the equaliser in the 72nd minute, connecting with a cross from Joachim Andersen and placing the ball into the bottom-left corner.
This was Chukwueze’s third Premier League goal of the season.
Fulham secured the win in stoppage time. In the 92nd minute, Harry Wilson scored from a long-range free-kick, sending the ball into the top-left corner and giving Fulham a 2-1 lead, which remained until the final whistle.
Chukwueze had recently been part of the Super Eagles squad that won the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria defeated Egypt in a penalty shootout to claim third place. During the tournament, Chukwueze provided two assists for the national team.
