Through official channels, the Egyptian Football Association has confirmed that former Aston Villa winger Mahmoud Trezeguet will not participate in Tuesday's friendly against Nigeria's Super Eagles.
Ibrahim Hassan, manager of Egypt's senior national football team, revealed that the technical staff, led by head coach Hossam Hassan, decided to rest Trezeguet from training today as well as from the international friendly against Nigeria, scheduled for tomorrow at Cairo Stadium.
Hassan explained that the decision was taken due to a dental procedure, with the coaching staff opting to grant the player adequate rest as a precautionary measure.
He reassured supporters that the absence is not a cause for concern, stressing that Trezeguet is expected to be fully fit and available for selection ahead of Egypt's opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles' preparations for their friendly against Egypt have been disrupted, with just twelve outfield players present in camp at this stage, according to the latest updates.
Among those yet to report for duty are Bruno Onyemaechi, Chidozie Awaziem, Ryan Alebiosu, Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika, Usman Muhammed, Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Chidera Ejuke, Akor Adams, Cyriel Dessers and Salim Fago Lawal.
