'Don't have a big headline' - Everton coach refuses to confirm talks with Chelsea over George signing

Manager David Moyes has suggested that Everton could make a late signing before the close of the January transfer window, amid speculation linking the club with a move for Chelsea's tri-national forward Tyrique George.

The England U21 international was left out of Chelsea’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash with West Ham, marking the sixteenth time this season he has not been called up for a Premier League game.

Although opportunities have been limited, George has directly participated in four goals in eleven appearances and is open to a move that would offer more regular playing time.

When asked to confirm reports linking Everton with a loan move for George, Moyes declined to comment on a player from another club.

However, he has not ruled out the possibility of the Toffees bringing in a new player before the close of the January transfer window.

In quotes relayed by Sky Sports, Moyes stated: "Yes I do [think there's a chance]. But don't have a big headline saying he thinks it's coming because it might not and then we disappoint people.

"We're always better keeping you under the radar, rather than saying yes."

Sunderland have also been credited with an interest in George, who is under contract with Chelsea until June 2027.

The 19-year-old was on the verge of a £22 million move to Fulham last summer, which collapsed at the last minute.
