EFL clubs enquire over loan move for Man Utd's Super Eagles-eligible striker

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that several unnamed English Football League clubs have made enquiries to Manchester United regarding a potential loan move for Super Eagles-eligible striker Chido Obi ahead of the January transfer window.

The Red Devils strengthened their attacking options during the summer with the arrivals of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, a development that has pushed Obi further down the forward pecking order at Old Trafford.

Last season, United boss Ruben Amorim handed the highly rated centre-forward his senior debut in a Premier League match away to Tottenham Hotspur.

Obi went on to feature in seven additional first-team matches before the campaign came to an end.

However, the former Arsenal schoolboy has found opportunities harder to come by this term, having yet to make his season debut for the first team.

While he has not matched the prolific scoring form of his maiden campaign at Manchester United, the 18-year-old has still registered seven goal involvements in thirteen appearances for the U21 side so far this season.

In addition to interest from EFL clubs, a number of foreign teams are also monitoring Obi’s situation, with Manchester United expected to make a decision whether a loan move would be beneficial for his development.

Obi signed his first professional contract with Manchester United in November 2024, having previously turned down a scholarship offer from Arsenal.
