The English Football Association has released its youth squad lists ahead of December’s international fixtures, with several teenagers of Nigerian descent receiving call-ups.
At U15 level, head coach Matt Thorpe has named Abdul-Muiz Odusanya-Edunfunke (West Bromwich Albion), Joseph Akinsanya (Manchester United), Kobi Akerele (Liverpool) and Emmanuel Famokun (West Ham United) for the upcoming matches against Iceland, Spain and Italy.
Akinsanya, a defender by trade, has spent four years in Manchester United's academy following his move from grassroots side JNS Football.
Akerele has enjoyed outstanding form for Liverpool U15s this season, netting twice against Port Vale and scoring five goals in a single match against Bristol City.
England U15s will meet Iceland on 15 December, Spain on 17 December and Italy on 20 December, with all fixtures to be staged at St George's Park.
Emerson Nwaneri headlines the four players of Nigerian descent selected by head coach Barry Lewtas for England's U16 squad for the December camp, during which they will play the Netherlands at St George's Park on Wednesday, 17 December, and Thursday, 18 December.
Joining the younger brother of Ethan Nwaneri in the squad are Arsenal midfielder Mishel Nduka, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oluwatitojumi Wellspring and Liverpool defender Shadrach Ekiugbo.
