2025 Flying Eagles invitee Chizaram Ezenwata was on the scoresheet as Chelsea Under-18s secured a 2-1 win over Brentford in the FA Youth Cup, booking their place in the fourth round of the competition.
The London derby at Wheatsheaf Park was settled in the second half, with Chelsea turning sustained pressure into goals.
After the breakthrough arrived through substitute Kobe Barbour, Ezenwata ensured the visitors had a decisive cushion with a well-taken finish late in the contest.
The 17-year-old centre-forward continued his productive run for Chelsea’s academy by doubling the lead after collecting a long ball and driving into the penalty area before finishing accurately into the bottom corner.
Brentford reduced the deficit in stoppage time through a Beau Redknapp free-kick, but Chelsea saw out the closing moments to confirm the victory.
Ezenwata was invited to a Flying Eagles training camp before the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, but he was unable to attend the camp due to club commitments with Chelsea.
Eligible to represent Nigeria and Cameroon at international level, the tri-national striker has remained focused on his development at club level, featuring regularly for Chelsea Under-18s and contributing both goals and attacking presence.
The result sends Chelsea into the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup, where they are scheduled to face Reading away from home.
