Former Chelsea defender Obileye is second top scorer in the Scottish Championship with 9 goals

Ayo Obileye, who has committed his international future to Nigeria and trained with the Dream Team VI before the 2016 Olympic Games, is having a banner season with Scottish Championship side Queen of the South.

The former Chelsea center back has shown that he is a defender with a striker's instincts, with nine goals from twenty one appearances in the Scottish Championship this term.

In the race for the top scorer award in the division, only Hearts Liam Boyce (11), who is a Northern Ireland international, has scored more goals than Obileye.

The Anglo-Nigerian defender has always had goals in his locker with his record showing 11 goals in 53 games for Eastleigh FC, four for Maidenhead United and three each for Dagenham & Redbridge and Ebbsfleet United, but he has taken it to another level this season.

Obileye scored his ninth goal of the season as Queen of the South were beaten 2-1 by Greenock Morton on Saturday, blasting a shot from 25 yards past the goalkeeper in the 45th minute.

Prior to yesterday's meeting with Greenock Morton, the 26-year-old scored three times with his head, converted three penalty kicks and also scored with his left and right foot.
