Former Olympic Eagles invitee Akinola wins Woking's Fans Player of the Season award

Former Nigeria U23 invitee Tim Akinola has been named Woking's Cards Trust Fans' Player of the Season after playing a key role in the Cardinals' top-ten finish.

The award was presented following the club's National League fixture against FC Halifax Town, recognising a standout campaign from the former Arsenal youth product.

Akinola featured prominently throughout the season, making 38 league appearances, scoring once and providing two assists, while accumulating 2,546 minutes of action.

In addition to his league contributions, the industrious midfielder also featured in the National League Cup, taking part in fixtures against West Ham United, Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion's youth teams.

In March, Akinola committed his future to Woking by signing a new two-year contract, extending his stay at the club until the end of the 2027–2028 season.

The deal includes a five-figure release clause, under £100,000, amid interest from several clubs.

Before putting pen to paper, he had attracted attention from teams such as York City, Rochdale, Peterborough United, Crawley Town, St Mirren and Waterford.

Akinola trained with Nigeria's Olympic Eagles before an Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifying match against Tanzania in October 2022.
