Former Werder Bremen player Martin Harnik has called on Victor Boniface to consistently demonstrate his quality as part of Werder Bremen’s attacking line.
Speaking to DeichStube ahead of the Nordderby against Hamburger SV, Harnik stressed the importance of Boniface and fellow striker Keke Topp showing their full potential to help Werder achieve higher ambitions this season.
Harnik stated, "It is obvious that a striker who scores reliably would help enormously to get even higher in the table. Boniface and Topp have absolute quality, they just have to show it more consistently."
He highlighted that while Werder currently possess talented attacking options, the consistent performance of players like Boniface will be decisive in crucial fixtures.
He added, "Werder have good strikers, but both the players and the coaching staff have to find ways to finally unleash their full potential."
His remarks underline the expectations on Boniface as Werder prepare for one of the season’s most important fixtures, where every attacking opportunity will matter.
The Nigerian forward is yet to register a goal this season for Werder Bremen since joining during the last summer transfer window from Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite struggles with match fitness and a dip in form, the former Bodø/Glimt player has been included in Eric Chelle’s 54-man provisional roster for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled in Morocco later this month.
Werder Bremen will face Hamburger SV in their next Bundesliga game on Sunday, where Boniface will be seeking to register his first goal of the season.
The match represents an opportunity for the Nigerian forward to demonstrate the quality Harnik highlighted and to contribute to Werder’s attacking ambitions.
