Fulham centre-back sets 2025-26 PL record after pass for Chukwueze's goal v Brighton

Fulham centre-back Joachim Andersen etched his name into the Premier League record books during the 2-1 comeback victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, thanks to his contribution in the build-up to Samuel Chukwueze's equaliser at Craven Cottage.

The Nigerian international marked his return from the Africa Cup of Nations in style, drawing Fulham level just 13 minutes after coming off the bench in the second half.

Chukwueze, who replaced fellow summer signing Kevin, produced a moment of pure quality by expertly controlling an audacious long pass from Joachim Andersen before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Brighton had taken the lead earlier in the first half when Yasin Ayari fired a powerful effort from the edge of the box beyond the Fulham goalkeeper.

However, Marco Silva's side responded strongly after the break, with Chukwueze's strike shifting the momentum firmly in Fulham's favour.

The comeback was completed late on when Harry Wilson curled home a superb direct free-kick to secure all three points for the hosts.

According to ESPN, Andersen's assist for Chukwueze set a new Premier League benchmark in the 2025/2026 campaign.

The Danish defender delivered a stunning 70-metre (76.5 yards) pass from his own half, the longest assist recorded in the league since Mark Flekken's 78.4-metre assist for Brentford in May 2025.

Chukwueze has been in impressive form since completing his loan move to the Premier League in the summer.

The former Villarreal winger has now registered three goals and four assists in ten league appearances, rediscovering his best form after a challenging spell at AC Milan.
