Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen will miss Galatasaray’s upcoming Trendyol Süper Lig fixture against Konyaspor after being left out of the traveling squad as a precautionary measure due to pain in his right knee.
The 27-year-old, who has been a key figure for Galatasaray this season, was not included in the squad list announced ahead of the week 23 clash at the Medaş Konya Büyükşehir Stadium.
In a statement published on the club’s official website on Friday, it was confirmed that the decision was taken to protect the striker amid discomfort in his knee, with no further risks considered necessary at this stage of the campaign.
Osimhen has played an influential role in Galatasaray’s domestic charge, contributing nine goals and three assists in the Süper Lig so far.
His attacking output places him among the club’s players with double-digit goal contributions this season, alongside Mauro Icardi, Barış Alper Yılmaz and Yunus Akgün.
The Nigerian international’s absence comes at a crucial period for the Istanbul giants.
Galatasaray currently sit on 55 points, three behind their closest rivals, and are balancing domestic competition with European commitments.
The team recently recorded a 5-2 victory over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League play-offs and are preparing for the second leg of that tie following the Konyaspor encounter.
Osimhen’s fitness will be closely monitored ahead of the decisive European fixture, as Galatasaray aim to maintain momentum on multiple fronts.
The forward’s form and availability remain significant factors in the club’s ambitions both in the Süper Lig and in continental competition.
