'Genetics play a big role' - Pari NN coach explains Olusegun's quick recovery after goal v KS Samara

Pari Nizhny Novgorod head coach Alexey Shpilevsky has explained how the club managed to have Olakunle Olusegun available for the Volga derby despite the forward picking up an injury in the previous league encounter against PFC Sochi.

Olusegun, who was named in the starting lineup, went on to make a decisive impact as Pari Nizhny Novgorod secured a convincing 3–0 victory over PFC Krylia Sovetov Samara on Sunday.

The Nigerian forward showed composure from the spot, confidently converting a penalty to give his side an early advantage, much to the delight of the home supporters.

Speaking after the match, Shpilevsky explained that the injury was not as severe as initially feared and highlighted the striker's quick recovery.

"His injury wasn't as serious as initially expected. Plus, genetics play a big role—he heals quickly," Shpilevsky said to Pari NN's official website after the game.

The Belarusian tactician also praised the forward's contribution to the team, describing him as a key figure during his current run of form.

"We're very happy to have Olusegun on our team; he's a very important player, especially since he's in good form right now," he added. "We really need Olakunle, and I'm glad he was able to play and put in a quality match."

Olusegun, who joined Pari NN on loan from FC Krasnodar, has recently enjoyed an impressive spell in front of goal.

The 23-year-old has scored twice in his last three league matches, highlighting his growing influence in the squad.

Overall, the Nigerian striker has now registered four goals and two assists in 19 league appearances this season, a return that underscores his importance to the team's attacking setup.

With his confidence on the rise, Olusegun will be eager to maintain his strong form for the remainder of the campaign as he aims to return to Krasnodar and fight for a more prominent role ahead of next season.
