Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda has praised Super Eagles stars Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke for their commitment to the club following their return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking after Sevilla’s 2-2 draw against Elche on Monday, Almeyda highlighted the dedication of the two Nigerian internationals, emphasizing the personal sacrifices they made to support the team immediately upon returning from international duty.
Reflecting on their efforts, he said, “I appreciate the commitment of Akor and Ejuke, who were here without seeing their families.”
Almeyda further elaborated on the significance of their presence in the squad, noting how much their return boosted the team’s morale and performance.
“The lads who are coming back from the cup are a real boost for us. I have to thank them for their commitment; they didn't see their families and came here. I place tremendous importance on them giving up their vacations to be here helping each other,” he added.
Akor Adams, who enjoyed a standout tournament with the Super Eagles, returned to Sevilla maintaining the form that saw him score two goals and provide two assists during the Africa Cup of Nations.
The striker made an immediate impact for the Rojiblancos, coming off the bench against Elche to score a brace.
His goals helped Sevilla secure a crucial point in a hard-fought 2-2 draw, ending a challenging period for the team and providing a timely lift to the squad.
Chidera Ejuke also played a key role in the match, contributing to Sevilla’s effort to fight back from behind.
