Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has provided an update on the availability of new signing Olisa Ndah ahead of their upcoming fixtures against Golden Arrows and Kaizer Chiefs, revealing that the Nigerian defender is eager to make his debut but may still need time to reach full match fitness.
Ndah recently joined Stellenbosch after a successful trial, securing a move as a free agent following a mutual termination of his contract with Orlando Pirates.
The Super Eagles centre-back had fallen down the pecking order at Pirates after struggling with recurring injury setbacks, which limited his playing time.
The 28-year-old is yet to feature for his new side as the club awaits the finalisation of his work permit from South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs.
Speaking to journalists ahead of the highly anticipated clash against Chiefs, Hunt hinted that the club is working to ensure the Nigerian international completes the necessary documentation in time to be eligible for the match..
“Actually, I might go there now,” Hunt joked as reported by iDiski Times.
He added that while the former Orlando Pirates defender is keen to play, the technical team must ensure he builds the necessary sharpness before being fully integrated into the matchday lineup.
“He is eager to play, the former Orlando Pirates captain, though also needs him to get match fitness."
If cleared in time and able to build the necessary sharpness, Ndah could soon provide a timely boost for Stellenbosch as they look to strengthen their defensive stability in the coming matches.
