Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has highlighted one aspect of his game he needs to improve following his side’s 2-1 comeback win over Stoke City in an FA Cup clash at the bet365 Stadium on Sunday.
After Jun-ho Bae opened the scoring for the Potters, the Nigeria international missed a glorious chance to level when his header went inches wide following a dinked cross from Kevin.
Second half goals from Kevin and Harrison Reed sent the Premier League side into the fifth round, where they will host Southampton.
Of the 41 goals Iwobi has scored at club level since turning professional, only three have come from headers—against Crystal Palace, Lincoln City and Wolverhampton Wanderers—with his most recent headed goal dating back to September 2019 during his Everton days.
The Hale End Academy graduate has acknowledged a weakness in his game he is determined to improve.
Speaking on the Alexander Yaa Digg pocast, the Fulham number 17 said: "Big win against Stoke City, tough opponents obviously. The first half was a bit difficult; we had so many chances but couldn’t take them, me included. I had one header. I am not great; I need to work on it, otherwise I should have scored with that attempt."
Iwobi praised teammate Kevin for his performance, and he's focused on the next stage of the FA Cup.
"People said, 'Can you do it away at Stoke?' We managed to do it. Kudos to Kevin; Kevin was on fire today and was sharp.
"On to the next round. Hopefully, by the time this video comes out, we'll know who we are playing in the draw."
