Super Eagles central defender Semi Ajayi has shared his optimism about keeping a clean sheet when they face Riyad Mahrez's Algeria on Saturday in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Nigeria has allowed four goals since the tournament began, with only one clean sheet in four matches.
The Super Eagles conceded goals in their first three group matches against Tanzania, Uganda, and Tunisia, but managed a clean sheet in the Round of 16 against Mozambique.
Talking to reporters in Morocco, the Hull City defender said he isn't concerned about scoring but would be thrilled if the Super Eagles kept a clean sheet.
"My job is to keep the ball out of the net. So, if we keep a clean sheet tomorrow, I will be over the moon," Ajayi said.
He also hopes the team continues their strong start and gets a favorable result against the Desert Warriors.
"We have had an excellent start to the tournament, and we aim to keep it up," he added.
The Super Eagles are in great form, winning four matches and netting twelve goals.
Ahead of the quarterfinals, coach Eric Chelle will be eager to secure a positive outcome and advance to the semifinals.
