Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that Inter Milan loanee Ebenezer Akinsanmiro did not participate in Nigeria's training session on Tuesday, ahead of the national team's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal showdown with Algeria.
Following their impressive 4-0 rout of Mozambique on Monday, Eric Chelle's side held a recovery session yesterday but Akinsanmiro sat out the session.
There is a minor health issue involving Akinsanmiro, who is understood to be slightly unwell.
The Pisa midfielder was unable to take part in the training session as a precaution, but the Super Eagles medics have stressed that the situation is not serious.
One of the new faces named in Nigeria's squad for the ongoing tournament in Morocco, the Beyond Limits product has yet to make his Afcon debut, with Eric Chelle leaving him on the bench for the wins against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Mozambique.
The 21-year-old made his Super Eagles debut in a pre-Afcon friendly with Egypt in Cairo, where he lasted 45 minutes on the pitch.
Team doctors have held discussions with Akinsanmiro and are actively attending to him.
According to their assessment, he is expected to feel significantly better by Wednesday and should rejoin the squad for the next training session.
Apart from Alebiosu's ongoing rehabilitation and Cyriel Dessers who has returned to Panathinaikos, the rest of the Super Eagles players are in good condition.
