Former Spartak Moscow president Andrei Chervichenko has questioned the transfer fee that The Red-Whites paid for Victor Moses.
The Russian Premier League giants are on the verge of confirming the permanent acquisition of the former Nigeria international after the mandatory buyout option set at five million euros was activated following their qualification for the Champions League.
Chervichenko considers Moses a better player than Quincy Promes, who was signed for a fee in the region of ten million euros and is about the same age as the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner.
"The club buys Promes for 10 million and gives him a salary of 4 million, " Chervichenko told Sport Express.
"Is Moses less useful? More in my opinion. Buying him for 5 million is a great deal, (it's) like stealing.
"Spartak needs to buy Moses in the light of recent events. Mandatory activation for second place? This means that Spartak was lucky, and Gazizov did a great job."
Chervichenko believes Moses will be a great addition to the Spartak Moscow squad and highlighted his offensive qualities.
"Moses is a real flank threat, a real escalation of the attack. I think he can benefit the team for a couple of more years. "
Moses took in loan spells at Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham and Fenerbahce during a nine-year association with Chelsea.
