Through a statement on the official website, League One club Cardiff City have announced that dual-national striker Kion Etete has been loaned out to Rotherham United for the entirety of the 2025-2026 season, subject to EFL, FA and FAW ratification and international clearance.
The 23-year-old becomes the tenth player signed by The Millers ahead of the new season
Signed from Tottenham Hotspur in 2022, Etete has nine goals and one assist in 63 outings for the Bluebirds.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, where he made five appearances.
A product of the Nott County and Tottenham Hotspur academies, he previously turned out for Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town.
Rotherham United are now awaiting confirmation of the required clearances that will determine Etete's eligibility to feature in Saturday’s League One opener against Port Vale.
Born in Derby to an English mother and Nigerian father, the attacker previously stated that he was open to representing the Super Eagles.
''I’m eligible to represent England and Nigeria maybe one other I’m not sure and it would be an honour (to play for Nigeria) but would have to consult with my parents before making a decision," Etete told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Etete will compete with Jordan Hugill, Sam Nombe and Joshua Kayode for a place in Rotherham United’s attack
