With an official statement on its website, Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have confirmed the signing of Flying Eagles winger Sani Suleman from Slovak top-flight club AS Trenčín.

The highly rated youngster attracted the attention of the German outfit after his impressive performances for Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will keep him at RB Leipzig until the summer of 2031.

Suleman has been handed the number 18 shirt at RB Leipzig, the same number worn by Nigeria's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations star Ademola Lookman during his loan spell at the club in the 2017-18 season from Premier League side Everton.

Suleman expressed delight at joining the Bundesliga club and his eagerness to learn to fulfil his potential.

The Nigeria U20 international praised Leipzig’s reputation for developing young talents and revealed that the club’s playing philosophy convinced him to make the move.

“Moving to RB Leipzig is a big step for me and something I’m extremely proud of. I’m especially impressed by the way the club develops young players, puts trust in them, and supports them in a targeted way. 

"I’m looking forward to learning every day in this highly professional environment, continuing to develop, and giving everything for the team."

Predominantly a left winger, Suleiman is versatile across the front three and as a second striker.
