The Super Eagles maintained their impeccable run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding 4-0 victory over Mozambique on Monday, securing a place in the quarterfinals.
Ademola Lookman set the tone in the 20th minute, expertly controlling a short pass from Akor Adams before curling a shot into the top right corner of the net.
The opener energized the Nigerian side and signaled the start of an attacking masterclass.
Just five minutes later, Victor Osimhen doubled the lead. Picking up a well-timed cross,
Osimhen calmly finished past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0, giving Nigeria a comfortable advantage before half-time.
The second half saw Nigeria continue to dominate possession and create chances.
In the 47th minute, Lookman turned provider, sending a precise cross across the penalty area for Osimhen, who tapped into an empty net to extend the lead to 3-0.
The combination of pace, vision, and clinical finishing highlighted the cohesion in Nigeria’s attack.
Akor Adams completed the scoring in the 75th minute. Receiving a well-placed pass from Lookman, Adams fired a close-range effort into the net, capping off a 4-0 rout and confirming Nigeria’s progression to the next stage.
Throughout the match, Mozambique struggled to respond to Nigeria’s attacking threats.
Despite sporadic possession, they were unable to challenge Nigeria’s defence or convert chances into goals.
