Following the conclusion of the matchday 23 fixtures on Monday night, BBC football pundit Troy Deeney unveiled his Team of the Week, which includes Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina and cap-tied Denmark international of Nigerian descent, Patrick Dorgu.
Aina's fitness issues, which led to his omission from the Nigerian squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, are now firmly behind him, with the right-back starting each of Nottingham Forest's last four Premier League matches.
The Chelsea academy graduate was instrumental as Forest recorded back-to-back clean sheets for the first time this season, with goals from Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi sealing a 2-0 victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Aina delivered an assured defensive performance, registering a joint game-high three interceptions, alongside five clearances and one blocked shot.
The Team of the Week is dominated by the division's most in-form side, Aston Villa, who have contributed four representatives: goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, left-back Ian Maatsen, and midfielders Youri Tielemans and Emiliano Buendía.
Rounding off the selection are Marc Guéhi (Manchester City), Jorge Cuenca (Fulham), Ibrahim Sangaré (Nottingham Forest), Estêvão Willian (Chelsea), and Igor Jesus (Nottingham Forest).
Defending his decision to select Ola Aina in his Team of the Week, Deeney stated: "This Brentford team are well known for getting crosses in the wide areas. I thought he defended excellently at the far post in Forest's 2-0 win, cleared everything.
"He was good at dealing with how people tried to run at him. He offered a lot going forward, too."
Aina was sidelined for sixteen consecutive Premier League matches while recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in the opening minutes of a 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa last September.
