With a statement on their official website, Swedish Allsvenskan side IFK Göteborg have announced that promising winger Edwin Andersson has joined Premier League side Chelsea with immediate effect.
The 16-year-old had attracted interest from Manchester United before The Blues won the race for his signature.
Andersson, who is a Sweden youth international, has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo by his father, Mikael Andersson.
Speaking on the deal, Academy Manager, Jonas Olsson said to IFK Göteborg's website : "We of course wish Edwin good luck. We would have liked to have seen him stay with us but that he is being recruited to Chelsea is a good mark on our business."
The 2003-born player joined IFK Göteborg from Lerums IS five years ago. He is expected to play for Chelsea's U18 team.
