Former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo is confident that Ademola Lookman will flourish at Atletico Madrid under the guidance of club legend Diego Simeone.
After a protracted transfer saga that lasted a year and a half, Lookman finally parted ways with Atalanta during the January window, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Metropolitano Stadium until June 30, 2030.
The former African Footballer of the Year has made an impressive start to life in Madrid, registering five goal involvements in as many all-competition appearances.
Lookman netted on his Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League debuts for Los Rojiblancos but he's still searching for his first goal in La Liga after two matches.
Ighalo believes that working under Simeone will be particularly advantageous for Lookman, praising the Argentine coach's tactical expertise.
"Lookman is a good player, and moving to La Liga is a good step for his career, because he performed well in Italy, and now he has joined Atletico Madrid, one of the big clubs in Spain.," Ighalo told Winwin.
"I think that playing under Diego Simeone will be very beneficial for him, because he is a very tactical and intelligent coach. Therefore, I see this as a good step for his professional career."
Lookman directly participated in 82 goals in 137 outings for Atalanta before making the switch to Spain.
