The Super Eagles of Nigeria continue to strengthen ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with the arrival of midfielder Usman Mohammed bringing the squad in Cairo to 25 players.
Three more key players—Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, and Moses Simon—are expected to join the camp soon as preparations intensify for today’s friendly against Egypt.
The team held their first training session on Monday night, with another session scheduled for Tuesday morning.
The training drills in Cairo are part of a critical phase as coach and technical staff finalize the squad and tactical approach ahead of the continental tournament.
The current Super Eagles squad in Cairo includes Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Akinsanmiro Ebenezer, Amas Obasogie, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Igho Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi, Zaidu Sanusi, Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Cyril Dessers, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Raphael Onyedika, Ryan Alebiosu, Salim Fago, Chidozie Awaziem, and Usman Mohammed.
The friendly against Egypt will serve as a key final test before the squad departs for Morocco later this week to conclude preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria has been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda, and the coaching staff are keen to ensure the squad is fully prepared both physically and tactically.
