Despite his situation at Liverpool, two-time African Footballer of the Year Mohamed Salah has been included in Egypt's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the forward is expected to play in the upcoming friendly against Nigeria, according to reports.
Egyptian outlet Filgoal reports that Salah is set to join the national team camp on December 15 in preparation for Afcon, with the coaching staff planning to include him in the friendly against the Super Eagles.
A club legend at Anfield, Salah is currently out of favour at the reigning Premier League champions amid a strained relationship with manager Arne Slot.
The veteran forward has not started Liverpool's last three Premier League matches and was omitted from the squad for Tuesday's Champions League clash with Inter Milan, sparking speculation that his eight-year tenure at the club may be nearing its end.
Although Salah has held discussions with Slot, it remains unclear whether he will feature in the starting lineup for Saturday's Premier League fixture against Brighton.
Reports suggest that he has threatened not to return to Liverpool after the Africa Cup of Natons, amid speculation linking him with Bayern Munich, Galatasaray and Major League Soccer teams.
The 33-year-old boasts 109 caps for Egypt, three of which came against the Super Eagles.
