Poland v Nigeria friendly: Super Eagles LB Zaidu could face three of his Porto teammates

Zaidu Sanusi could face three of his Porto teammates on June 3 at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw when the Super Eagles take on Poland in a high-profile international friendly, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

At club level, Zaidu lines up alongside defenders Jan Bednarek and Jakub Kiwior, as well as midfielder Oskar Pietuszewski at Porto.

All three Polish players were involved as Poland narrowly missed out on qualification for the 2026 World Cup, losing 3-2 to Sweden in the decisive playoff.

While Bednarek and Kiwior played the full match, promising teenager Pietuszewski came on as a second half substitute.

Zaidu is no longer guaranteed a starting spot for the Super Eagles at left-back.

Manager Eric Chelle has opted for Olympiakos defender Bruno Onyemaechi as his first choice, including in the recent friendly against Iran, where Zaidu remained an unused substitute.

Both Poland and Nigeria experienced similar heartbreaks in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaigns.

Poland finished second behind the Netherlands and lost to Sweden in the playoffs, while the Super Eagles came second to South Africa and were eliminated on penalties by the Democratic Republic of Congo in the African final of the playoffs.
