Golden Eaglets Go Goal Crazy Again, Thrash Iran 4 - 1
Published: October 29, 2013Nigeria have qualified for the quarter-finals of the ongoing Fifa Under 17 World Cup after thrashing Iran 4 - 1 at Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain on Tuesday evening.
The Golden Eaglets underlined their credentials as one of the favorites to win the tournament for a fourth time by netting three first half goals.
Samuel Okon opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 23rd minute after an assist from Musa Yahaya.
Then , Arsenal target Kelechi Iheanacho added a second on 25 minutes to take his tally to five goals in the tournament.
Skipper Musa Mohammed was also on target with only 2 minutes left before the end of the first half.
In the 76th minute, Musa Yahaya scored the fourth goal for the Eaglets as well as his fourth of the tourney.
Iranian substitute Ali Gholizadeh grabbed a late goal for the Asians with 6 minutes left to play.
Nigeria will now meet Uruguay in one of the quarter final matches on Saturday, November 2.
