Nigeria Beats Sweden 3 - 0, Advances To Final
Published: November 05, 2013
The Golden Eaglets defeated Sweden 3 - 0 in the semi - finals of the Fifa Under 17 World Cup in Dubai on Tuesday evening.
The Scandinavians started the game brightly but it was Nigeria who got the opener in the 21st minute through Taiwo Awoniyi, deputizing for the injured Isaac Success.
Nigeria found the back of the net again again but the lenient referee incorrectly ruled that a player was offside.
BK Hacken youngster Carlos Strandberg almost got an equalizer for the Swedes in the 76th minute but his volley was miraculously saved by Alampasu.
And four minutes later, Nigerians extended their lead through Samuel Okon and moments later Chidera Ezeh settled the scoreline with a simple finish.
Nigeria will now contest the final with Mexico on Friday. Both teams had met earlier in the group stage, with Nigeria hammering the defending champions 6 - 1.
