30 States Set For Korodo Under 18 Soccer Tourney
Published: November 19, 2013About 30 states across the federations have signified intension to partake in the money spinning grassroots soccer tournament tagged ‘Korodo National Under-18 Unity Cup’ bankrolled by the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Petroleum & Natural Gas Workers(NUPENG) Lagos state zone, Comrade Tokunbo Najeemdeen Korodo.
The event where participants is expected to cart away mouthwatering incentives according to the organizer, The Professional Sports International is the NUPENG boss’ own way of contributing to the development of the game of football at the grassroots and also giving back to the society that made him.
The tourney has been scheduled to commence on November 24th and end on December 1st at MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta Ogun State, with almost 30 states cutting across the 6 geo-political zones of country vying for honour.
While explaining rationale behind donating huge sum for promotion of grassroots football Comrade Korodo said football is a game we all love in Nigeria, hence government should not be left to shoulder its development alone.
“We have all seen how our Golden Eaglets overwhelmed all their opponents to FIFA Under-17 World Cup for us in UAE, this has showed that, if all and sundry can support our youths in whatever way they deem fit, sky will be the limit for Nigerian football”, Korodo opined.
