Rasheed Alabi Speaks About New Deal With AC Omonia
Despite offers from China, Turkey and Polish club Śląsk Wrocław, Nigerian defender Rasheed Alabi chose to extend his collaboration with Cyprus powerhouse AC Omonia over the summer.

One of the longest tenured players on the roster of AC Omonia, Alabi had to agree to a wage cut before he committed his future to the Greens for an additional two years.

“I extended my contract with AC Omonia because I know there is crisis in other parts of Europe and I don’t know what will happen next where I go,” says Rasheed Alabi to allnigeriasoccer.com.

The 27 - year - old center back has made six out of a possible 10 appearances for AC Omonia in the First Division.

And he has dismissed suggestions that he has fallen down Toni Savevski’s pecking order of central defenders.

“I was injured for two weeks after a cup game with a second division team. That is the reason why I was not in the starting lineup for some matches.

“But I am okay now and played in the league match on Sunday,” he said.

Once touted as the new Stephen Keshi, the versatile defender has been on the payroll of AC Omonia since 2008.
